Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy blown away by response to team’s black jersey

Peter Psaltis

Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy says he feels the team has taken a big step forward in raising awareness for mental health following last Saturday’s match, where they debuted black jerseys.

He revealed to Salty they had listened to their fans who felt mental health was an important community cause and he was grateful for the conversations the move had sparked.

“We had to listen to that, we wanted to … Certainly, we weren’t quite sure what to expect, but we’ve been blown away by the positivity, and by people being open to having the conversation, wanting to have the conversation,” he said.

Donaghy also revealed all the players have indicated they want to stay at the club.

“Payne (Hass) himself came out and said that Brisbane’s home. He doesn’t want to go anywhere,” he added.
